THE PROBLEM
Many businesses employ an additional level of security for their backup by storing it at an off-site location. This is usually done by physically transporting the data off-site on a tape, DVD or an external drive, or by sending the data to a third party storage facility.
Physically carrying the data off-site has many dangers because it is a manual process and is frequently subject to human error. The potential for damaged backup media increases during transport, and lost or stolen backup tape stories seem to be showing up more and more frequently.
Third-party remote backup facilities also present a few potential problems. Even in the best of situations there is always risk in giving up control of your vital data. Also, restore times over the internet can be very long, potentially putting your business out of commission for days.
THE SOLUTION
ION provides Site-to-Site backup which allows the transfer of backup jobs from one site you control to another. For instance, you might send a backup from your office computer to your home computer or to another branch office location. The transfer takes place over the internet and is encrypted to assure security. It's yet another feature that ION provides so that you can lessen the amount of time spent worrying about the backup.
Using our Site-to-Site feature allows you to always have control of your important files. Also, since the data resides at a location to which you have immediate access, full recoverys can be made with greater speed and reliability.

HOW IT WORKS
ION is installed on your server or workstation and then is configured to run backup jobs as you or your IT technician sees fit. When a backup process is kicked off ION sends any error messages to the Monitoring Center’s server. Absolutely no data or file information is transferred to Universe Point during this process.
ION’s Monitoring Center will assure you that your backup is always working properly. When there is an error you will be able to fix it before the problem affects the security of your critical data. When you do need to restore you will be sure that all your data is safely backed up.
